Speaking of Karen O...

What most of you do know, is that Spike Jonze's film rendition of Maurice Sendak's timeless classic Where The Wild Things Are hits theaters on October 16. Yes!

What most of you don't know is that Karen O, of Yeah Yeah Yeahs fame, wrote the soundtrack. As in, Eddie Vedder ala Into The Wild. The soundtrack, out through DGC/Interscope is due on September 29th, with the lead single "All Is Love" impacting on August 25. The album is credited to Karen O and the Kids, because she collaborated with a ton of people to make this album possible. Of course, she recruited the other 2/3 of the YYYs, Nick Zinner and Brian Chase, Deerhunter/Atlas Sound frontman Bradford Cox, Dead Weather members Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence, as well as countless others. Rolling Stone has the complete list here. Anyone else as excited as I am!? The single looks like this:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs to replace Beastie Boys at ACL?

So according to Mashfest.com, rumor has it that the Karen O. led Yeah Yeah Yeahs will once again replace the Beastie Boys at this summer's Austin City Limits Music Festival. Now, I was at Lollapalooza, and I saw the YYYs, because I had no interest of seeing Tool. The whole reason I went to Lolla was to see the Beastie Boys. The YYYs, put on an amazing show, they really did, but it doesn't exude the same energy as a Beastie Boys show. Karen O. even knows this saying, "We could never take the place of the fucking Beastie Boys." And she's right, they cannot. At least not yet. So I will be a bit disappointed if C3 in fact just took the lazy route, and got the YYYs to play both Lollapalooza and ACLFest. Hell, All Points West got Jay-Z!!! Not that I should be complaining... at least we are not getting stuck with Tenacious D.

Oh, and if you are wanting to rush out and buy a single day pass for Friday, too late. The official website for ACLFest reports today that the festival is completely sold out. Time to hit CraigsList!

Them Crooked Vultures, now with audio... but not much.

The newly formed supergroup, Them Crooked Vultures, consists of Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme, and last but not least, John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame. There has been a lot of buzz surrounding this supergroup especially when they took over The Metro in Chicago to officially end Lollapalooza 2009. Those tickets sold out in about 7 minutes flat. All pictures or videos from that show have been removed, and it's near impossible to find any evidence of this band performing, until now. TCV have just posted a 33 second video on YouTube which contains an excerpt of "Nobody Loves Me and Neither Do I." Check out the video below and you can follow them on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, or on YouTube.

Austin City Limits Announces Aftershows!

Today, the good folks at C3 Presents and Austin City Limits Music Festival announced the aftershows that will be taking place in the each night following the festival. Some of the acts include: Blitzen Trapper, Grizzly Bear, Thievery Corporation, Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys), !!!, Bon Iver, and Ghostland Observatory. Missing this year are the big name acts that usually put on a big show at Stubb's. I guess the economy is hurting everyone. Presale starts today, ends Wednesday the 19th at midnight. Click here for the complete list and to purchase tickets before they go on sale August 20th at 10am. The presale code is "greengrass"

Weezer Should Just Give Up

Now, if you haven't heard, Weezer is back and are slated to drop their seventh album on October 27, via Geffen. Well today via weezer.com we learn that the new album has a name... it's called Raditute. Yes, it really is. Now, I don't think anyone has really paid that much attention to Weezer since Pinkerton, I know I haven't. Well maybe when Weezer (The Green Album) was set to be the biggest comeback album, but instead proved to be the first disappointment of many. Either way, Rivers and co. should just put an end to it. The writing has gone to crap, no one listens to them anymore except for the original Weezer and Pinkerton albums. Oh, and have you seen this hot mess?

Make it stop!

New Radiohead "These Are My Twisted Words"

As many of you know, this brand new track leaked last week and was officially released yesterday by Radiohead disspelling all of the rumors that they were going to release an EP by the name of Wall Of Ice. Download it for FREE here or here.

The Antlers

The Antlers are a three piece band from Brooklyn who are set to release their phenomenal new album Hospice today, through Frenchkiss Records. I suggest picking this album up immediately or on iTunes. You will not be disappointed, as this is already one of my top albums of 2009.
